What Does Thread Count Mean?
Q: Is a higher thread count a better sheet or a softer sheet? A: Thread count is the number of threads per square inch of sheet fabric. The higher the thread count, the more dense the weave - resulting in a finer fabric that's softer and more durable. A thread count of 180 has long been the industry standard for consumers - but sheets with higher thread counts (240, 300, 350 and above) have become increasingly popular. However. a really good sheet is not only about thread count. Premium fibers - like Egyptian, Pima and Supima® cottons and premium finishes - are supremely comfortable and long-lasting. So don't assume simply paying more for a higher thread count should be the only consideration. |
